Maine’s capitol, in Augusta, was the eighth capitol I photographed, and is tied with Massachusetts for my most visited. The Maine Capitol sits along the Kennebec River in Augusta and can be seen from all over the small capital city. The dome was restored to its original copper color between my first and most recent visits, so you’ll see both the old oxidized green and the restored versions here. The first photo here is probably my single favorite state capitol photo I’ve taken. These photos were taken over several trips from October of 2012 to July of 2015.
