Massachusetts’s capitol, in Boston, was the fifth capitol I photographed. This is by far my most visited capitol, as Massachusetts is my home state, but I am not always armed with my camera when I visit - in fact, until a recent visit, I really didn’t have a great portfolio for this building. Massachusetts is a unique capitol; in part that’s due to its red brick exterior and gold dome, and in part that’s due to its cramped setting: the grounds around the building are generally closed, limiting shooting angles, and the front is limited by Beacon St. and a slope down to Boston Common. It can be seen across the river in Cambridge, and I have a shot from there below. This set also includes a shot of the former MA capitol, on State Street. These photos were taken over the course of several visits, from October 2012 to July 2023.
