Pennsylvania’s capitol, in Harrisburg, was the eleventh capitol I photographed. The Harrisburg capitol feels huge, though it’s mid-range in terms of comparative size. Part of that is that it dominates the city’s downtown area, and part of it is its cavernous and luxurious interior, filled with gilded flourishes and mosaic art that puts it close to the top of the list of capitol interiors. The outside features a huge ornate copper dome that has oxidized. This set also includes a shot of Pennsylvania’s first capitol, in Philadelphia. These photos were taken in November and December of 2012.
