Oklahoma’s capitol, in Oklahoma City, was the 38th capitol I photographed. Oklahoma’s Capitol offered a lot of unique photographic opportunities - the exterior features multiple active oil derricks on the grounds, and a highway runs essentially next to the capitol, underneath the grounds, which stretch over it in overpasses. Inside, the building is the only to have existed without a dome for the first several decades of its life until one was added about 20 years ago; the project was sponsored in part by various businesses and individuals, especially those in the oil industry, and their names line the interior, which in some cases (Halliburton, for example) makes for quite a statement. These photos were all taken in April of 2024.
