Nebraska’s capitol, in Lincoln, was the twenty second capitol I photographed. This is my favorite capitol set I’ve done, at least as of this writing, and the building and grounds are a photographer’s dream, inside and out. The Nebraska capitol is the best of the art deco era of capitols, built in the 1920s and featuring a amazing interior filled with public art, textured limestone walls, and beautiful light. The result is probably my only set that’s at least 50% interior shots. The exterior, despite its anatomical nickname, also offers a lot of opportunity as its set on a large, four block plot. I had family in Lincoln at the time who were able to arrange a private tour of the building through a family friend, so some of these are of areas not often open to the public. Nebraska is also the only capitol of which I’ve sold photos, to a department at the University of Nebraska. These photos were all taken in July of 2014.
