Montana’s capitol, in Helena, was be the thirty seventh capitol I photographed. The capitol is small but lovely, with a richly colorful interior featuring artwork and statuary highlighting people and events (sometimes unfortunately) from Montana’s past. The exterior is reminiscent of a few other capitols, but its setting - at the foothills of mountains surrounding the city - add a lot. A few shots here were taken atop Meatloaf Hill, nestled into a residential area but with views over the entire valley; that was one of my favorite moments of this stop. These photos were all taken in July of 2023.
