Iowa’s capitol, in Des Moines, was the twenty sixth capitol I photographed. I was looking forward to capturing Iowa’s unique five dome design, but unfortunately our visit coincided with renovation and refurbishing of the main dome, which is covered by scaffolding in these photos. The interior is beautiful, though, and I tried to use the surroundings to compensate for the dome in these shots. We also visited the original capitol, in Iowa City in the eastern part of the state. These photos were all taken in August of 2017.
